Udaipur Double Murder Accused Sent to Judicial Custody

 

The prime accused in the Udaipur Double Murder Case, Maria Bohra, has been sent to Judicial Custody, following Court orders today afternoon. Maria's Police Custody Remand ended on 7 November and the Police presented her in Court to get further instructions from the Court.

During her interrogation while in Police Custody, Maria divulged pertinent information related to the Gold she looted and her modus operandi in the Double Murder of two elderly sisters who were also her relatives. In-charge of Police Station, Dr. Hanuwant Singh Rajpurohit, informed media that till date, Police have recovered 22-24 Tola Gold from her possesion. Earlier, Police had informed that Maria had kept a large portion of the stolen Gold as security with Bank and the rest was melted by her, for sale later on. Police also took her to the Petrol Pump from where she had purchased Petrol in order to douse the house with fire. The Police also took her to the location of the Crime and the entire sequence of events was simulated.

As per the law, the minimum duration of the JC will be 14 days. During this period the Police will prepare the chargesheet on the basis of the evidence gathered and the information obtained during the interrogations and investigations. Apparently, the Police have recovered all the possible Gold from her possession and the remaining is with the Bank where it was deposited as security against the loan taken by the accused. Additionally, the Police have also not been able to gather any evidence of the involvement of any other person in the double murder, directly or indirectly. At the end of 14 days, if the chargesheet is not finalised, the Police will request for an extension of the JC and IF the Police needs to interrogate the accused further, they will seek access to the accused under Production Warrant.
