Gandhi Vatika Museum To Be Part of Tourism, Says CM
Ashok Gehlot has warned of dharna on September 28 for delay in opening museum to public
The Gandhi Vatika, Jaipur, will be managed by the Department of Tourism, Art and Culture starting October 2, 2024, on the occasion of the Gandhi Jayanti. Currently, the management and maintenance of Gandhi Vatika, located at Central Park, is handled by the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA).
This decision was taken yesterday, September 25, 2024, by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, to ensure better management of the Gandhi Darshan Museum (Gandhi Vatika) which showcases Mahatma Gandhi's values, ideologies and struggles. The Gandhi Vatika Museum will be included in the department's tourism list.
Experts from the Department of Archaeology and Museums and the Department of Tourism will also be involved to ensure the museum is managed professionally. A panel will be set up to oversee the management and provide suggestions to promote the values of Mahatma Gandhi.
Ravi Jain, Secretary of the Department of Tourism, Art and Culture, said that Gandhiji’s life journey will be presented using digital and modern technology.
Earlier, on September 23, 2024, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced that he would hold a dharna at Central Park on September 28, 2024, to protest the delay in opening of the Gandhi Vatika Museum. He had said it was up to the CM to ensure that the Gandhians are not forced to hold the protest.
