The postcard was invented by the British government in 1856. Sharma's collection of archival, dry proof, and essay material used for approval by British officers in the earlier years formed a part of this global exhibition. Prior to this occasion, Sharma has participated in international exhibitions held in Thailand and China, where he received several awards. Commissioner Sahadev Sahoo, a former administrative officer, accepted the medal on Virendra Singh's behalf.
Virendra Sharma is a Director at the Udaipur-based IT consultancy firm Advaiya Solutions and serves on the Philatelic Exhibition's National Accredited Jury.
