BJP forfeits Security deposit in Vallabhnagar - Congress takes both seats in Udaipur bye-Elections
The Bhartiya Janta Party faced defeat in both the Rajasthan Assembly seats at Vallabhnagar and Dhariyawad. The setback in Dhariyawad was unexpected while the forfeiture of Security Deposit in Vallabhnagar came as a double hammer for the ruling National Party.
The Congress, the ruling party in Rajasthan has in the meanwhile has taken both the seats. The BJP slid down to third position at Dhariyawad, where it supposedly held a stronghold. At Vallabhnagar, the RLP came second, Janta Sena took third place and BJP was at fourth position.
Preeti Shaktawat of the Congress has won the Vallabhnagar seat with a total tally of 65713 votes out of the 182054 votes that were cast. Udaylal Dangi of the RLP came in second with 45,107 votes. Maharaja Randhir SIngh Bhinder of the Janta Sena came in third with 43,817 votes, while the BJP candidate Himmat Singh Jhala had his deposit forfeited with a tally of 21,433 votes.
At Dhariyawad in the meanwhile, Congress candidate Nagraj Meena won the elections with a tally of 69,819 votes, while BTP rebel Thaavarchand who contested as an independent took 51,094 votes. BJP candidate Khetsingh Meena who was the favorite, slid to third place with 49,487 votes. BJP held this seat in 2018. For more updates on the day happening read the Udaipur Times Election Update.
The counting for the bypolls at Vallabhnagar and Dhariyawad assembly seats of Udaipur began at 8am today. The counting for Vallabhnagar was held at Udaipur while that of Dhariyawad was held in Pratapgarh.
