33 EV charging stations mirroring petrol pumps to come up soon in Udaipur,

12 locations within Udaipur Municipal Corporation limits, along with an additional 21 locations within the UIT area.

The state government has taken significant steps to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) within the region by expediting the establishment of charging stations. As part of this initiative, suitable land is being allocated to companies within Udaipur city to facilitate the installation of these charging infrastructure facilities. In the initial phase of the project, the installation of charging stations will commence simultaneously at 12 locations within Udaipur Municipal Corporation limits, along with an additional 21 locations within the UIT area. This comprehensive effort will result in the establishment of a total of 12 charging stations in the corporation area and 21 stations in the UIT area.

These stations will be designed to function alike to traditional petrol pumps, ensuring a seamless and familiar experience for EV users. This strategic approach aims to provide convenient access to charging infrastructure and encourage the widespread adoption of electric vehicles in Udaipur, promoting sustainable and eco-friendly transportation options within the region.

The corporation has allocated land for the charging stations, while the process is underway in UIT to secure suitable locations. The companies involved are actively working towards arranging electricity connections and other necessary facilities at these stations. As part of the agreement for establishing the charging infrastructure, the land is being provided to the companies at a reserved price.

Each charging station requires a minimum area of 800 square feet, which allows for the installation of the charging point as well as the construction of additional facilities. These additional facilities may include amenities such as waiting areas for EV users, service centers for vehicle maintenance, restrooms for convenience, and administrative offices for station management. At six selected locations, the plan is to install double charging points consisting of both slow and fast charging stations. The survey for land acquisition in various areas of UIT has been successfully conducted, and the process of making land available for the charging stations is currently underway.

According to the Transport Department, there are about 3,000 e-vehicles in the city so far, of which the number of two-wheelers is more. The current usage of electric vehicles within the city is relatively low. In order to promote the adoption of electric vehicles and combat air pollution, the government and various companies have collaborated to provide a range of facilities and incentives. These initiatives have been introduced with the aim of increasing electric vehicle sales and transforming the city into a cleaner and more sustainable environment. By offering these supportive measures, the goal is to encourage residents to transition to electric vehicles, ultimately reducing emissions and improving the overall air quality in the city.

This proactive measure aims to create a more robust and accessible charging network, thereby promoting the widespread use of EVs and fostering sustainable transportation alternatives.
