Call Recording with Apple Intelligence on ioS18
Will provide AI-created summaries and full transcriptions if required...
iOS 18 is set for a significant redesign and will introduce several key features that Android has offered for years. The iOS18 update, due later this year, will allow users to record calls and provide AI-created summaries and full transcriptions if required. At the WWDC 2024 keynote on Monday, 10 June, Apple showcased upcoming iOS18 features, with call recording being a prominent focus on their presentation slides. As demonstrated, users will notice the call recording feature through a recording indicator positioned atop the contact page while engaged in a call.
Apple will automatically notify the individual on the receiving end of the call that recording is underway. You'll be able to select a call summary rather than needing to go through the entire transcript, based on what you prefer. After the conversation ends, it's probable that you'll find the transcribed version of the call within the Notes app.
Apple has also noted that initially, the audio transcription feature for calls will be limited to English, Spanish, German, French, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, and Portuguese. However, there are plans to add more languages in future updates. Just like other AI functionalities introduced by Apple this week, call recording is anticipated to be supported on iPhone 15 Pro and newer iterations. Consequently, if you possess older iPhone models, you won't be able to record calls.
