WhatsApp rolls out a new feature for forwarded messages
Description of the forwarded message can be changed by adding new description
The Meta-owned instant messaging app, WhatsApp, has created a new feature that will allow users to add descriptions to forwarded messages. The feature has benefits to add more description to forwarded messages which are not clear and require more explanation. However, one can prevent the spread of misinformation and provide necessary context to help recipients understand why the message is being shared.
Earlier, when WhatsApp users forwarded any media, the recipient would only see the message and the caption entered by the sender but now with the new feature users can add a desired description to forwarded media which can be in any form like image, a GIF, a video or a document.
You need to simply select a forwarded message, remove the previous description and add a description of your choice. The report highlights that when users remove the current caption and add their own, the new description is sent as a separate message. This is to help the recipients know that it is a newly created caption and doesn’t belong to the original message.
