An 80 year old woman was assaulted and robbed by unknown number of accused who fled away with gold ornaments and Rs. 1 Lac cash. The incident occurred at Kailash Colony, Machla Magra last night.

The victim Shanta Bai, a widow, was sleeping in her room when the accused entered inside and attacked her. Shanta Bai’s younger sister who was sleeping in the same room tried to save her but the accused also beat her.

Both women received multiple injuries and the neighbors informed police about the incident.

According to Shanta Bai, the gold jewelries weighing 35 tolas and around 4kg silver ornaments including Rs.1 Lac cash were stolen. The accused also snatched jewelries she was wearing at the time of robbery.

Shanta Bai informed that her husband was retired from Forest Department and all her asset was kept safe in bank. But few days back, she withdrew everything from locker and brought it home.

Surajpol Police has lodged the report and started the investigation.
