Illegal Construction activity in the City of Lakes has come up for review and that too at a fast pace. The Anti Corruption Bureau, Udaipur, has taken up the task of bringing the guilty to task.

In two operations conducted in distinct areas of the city, the ACB team, headed by Rajendra Prasad Goyal, Ad SP, ACB Udaipur, it was found that construction was not in line with the approvals given by the Urban Improvement Trust (UIT).

A four storey building at Saiphan Chauraha and a multiple storey building at Hari Das Ji Ki Magri, opposite Hotel Chunda Palace have come up as the defaulters.

As per the ACB, the approval for the building at Saiphan was meant to be for residential purpose, but it was found that the owner has built it for commercial purpose, with the intention of selling the units.

Rajeev Joshi of the ACB informed that the owner of the building had registered the building in the name of his mother and had filed a request with the UIT to construct residential premises. The application was filed on 18th April 2011 and the permission was granted on 20th May 2013. There are 16 flats in the apartment and 4 floors with a basement which is illegal according to the approved documents. The setback and parking spots were also not as per the approvals given. To take into cognizance all the issues, the J.En from UIT and the Patvari were called on location with the owner and all the approval papers and records.

Another building, being constructed at Hari Das Ji Ki Magri was found to be violating the no-construction zone orders of the High Court. Here also, to take matters to task, the U.I.T J.En and the local area Patvari and other related officials were called by the A.C.B.

Two more building were raided at the same location under a similar violation of No-Construction orders of the High Court and the lake Conservation committee, as informed by Prasan Kamesra, AdSP, Special Unit.

The ACB suspects that there is more to the matter and has indicated that top ranked officers of the administrative bodies could be involved in the entire episode
