Abiding by the court direction, a police head constable today apologized to a railway officer, Harphool Singh, in a manhandling case over a dispute on platform ticket that happened two months ago. This is probably the first of its kind case in the state.

Rajesh Mehta, the constable, apologized publicly to the railway area officer, Harphool Singh Choudhary, in the presence of a large number of officials from both the police and the railway department.

The constable offered both verbal and written apology to the officer as per the courts direction. The constable was offered bail by the court today and directed to offer apology to the railway officer.

Mehta, accompanied by his lawyer and police officers from the Surajpole station, first took the platform ticket before entering inside.

The railway officer too signed on the letter of apology, in return.  A large crowd, including  railway staff, GRPF team, passengers as well as the vendors gathered to see the proceedings.

It may be noted that the constable and his wife had been absconding after the incidence and the constable had been suspended from the department post enquiry.

Head constable Rajesh Mehta and his wife Maina had lodged a case against Choudhary for allegedly misbehaving and abusing them for not having a platform ticket. The couple had come to see off their daughter who was leaving for Ajmer by the morning train on 24th May. While on their way out of the platform the railway officer Choudhary stopped them and asked them to show the platform ticket,The couple did nOt have the ticket and instead Rajesh held out his identity card to the officer upon which the latter refused to let them go without a penalty. The heated argument further led to the officer thrashing the couple, the complaint said.
