Woman dies post burn injuries, family claims dowry killing

A 22 year old woman of Debari area died at a private hospital on Sunday due to severe burn injures that she had sustained on 24th October at her in laws house. Since then she was under treatment but she finally succumbed to her injures on Sunday night at 8.30 pm.

But on the contrary, victim’s parents doubt that she was killed for dowry. They had also lodged FIR against her in laws for the same and demanded thorough investigation of the matter.

The victim Chanda Nath was rushed to a private hospital of the city by her in laws on 24th October where she was being treated for her critical condition. But her wounds were so severe, that she couldn’t survive and died on Sunday night, Investigation officer Bhupesh Yogi said.

Yogi further added that the woman was married to her husband since February 2012. After staying at her in laws house at Debari for 1.5 years the couple started having disputes and their relation became sour; following that she went to her parent’s house and stayed there for more that 8 months.

The in laws somehow convinced the victim to live with her husband again but few days back they had an argument following which the victim in a sudden accident got burnt on 24th October and was rushed to the hospital. During the investigation police learnt that the victim’s husband Kamlesh worked at a private company at finance department.

However the parents of the deceased woman had given the report against her in laws claiming it to be a killing for dowry. The matter is still under investigation and things will get clear once it will get over, added Yogi.
