In the ongoing drive against possessors of illegal arms, Hathipol Police succeeded in arresting a 27-year-old man identified as Sunil alias Sonu Ganchi carrying country made pistol from Chetak Circle today afternoon. The youth has been detained and will be produced before court tomorrow.

According to sources, a special police team was constituted under the direction of S.P Hariprasad Sharma to keep an eye on suspicious looking people. S.H.O Goverdhan Lal received information of a suspect carrying arms. Acting on the tip off, a police team rushed to the spot and traced the suspect. On realization of being tracked, the suspect tried to flee but was caught by the police.

Goverdhan Lal told media personnel that in the initial interrogation Sonu confessed buying the weapon for Rs.10,000. He did not disclose from whom he had bought the gun but mentioned that he intended to hurt one man who had slapped Sonu’s son a few days back.

Although further interrogation will reveal how much truth is there in Sonu’s story but the alarming fact is that Udaipur is increasingly becoming a den of criminals who are injecting their evils into the city youth. Arms are easily available at affordable prices.

Udaipur Police has got success in several similar cases over the last few weeks and that has also led to arrest of several professional criminals.

In today’s action, the special police team comprised of Goverdhanlal (SHO), Itwarilal (Head Constable) and Budhha Narayan and Jagdish Chandra (Constables).
