Shariq Pervez Khan of Ambamata has created a guitar that can play Western as well as Classical music at the same time. Shariq’s guitar is a combination of a guitar and a ‘Sarod’ in a single instrument.

Shariq’s guitar appears in two forms where at some extent it appears as a guitar and at another side it resembles the shape of a Sarod. He put in a lot of efforts in creating this instrument, which he calls ‘Meditation Guitar’.

Shariq Pervez said that, he was fond of playing various musical instruments since his childhood. Surprisingly when Shariq started playing guitar, he did not find its tunes interesting and at that moment he thought of mixing tunes of both classical and western music. He started working on this project and with hard work and dedication he finally succeeded in making this idea a reality.

The instrument has 33 strings out of which 8 are main strings and 25 are sympathetic strings. The instrument is made up of Indian teak which is stretched in thin layer of goat skin.

Shariq belongs from a family of famous painters and he himself has a master’s degree in painting, but music always remained his first love and has been playing the slide guitar since his childhood.

In 2005, Shariq was invited in an international concert at U.K to give performance and since then he has been to various countries to perform in a number of concerts.

Shariq informed that he had spent around Rs. 3 lakh to create this guitar.
