A couple of days ago, UdaipurTimes had uploaded information about the police rounding up a few members from a local masjid for congregating at the place of worship in number beyond the permitted number.

There were some comments on social media, which targeted a particular community, which actually did not do justice to the post because it was not targeting a community but meant to warn people all around on the consequences of not adhering to the conditions of the lockdown.

These comments, were however, not surprising, because over the last few days, the fight on Coronavirus has been biased more against a particular community rather than the spread of the disease on general.  This was after the Tableegh Jamaat incident, which was unfortunate and both the Jamaat members as well as the administration and police were equally responsible for what transpired.

Transcribed below is a satire on how the story of Coronavirus has been handled by some news channels post the Tableegh Jamaat affair, so far.  The title of the satire is कोरोना की आत्मकथा – एक कवि की जुबानी :

हेलो विद्रोही जी...
मैं कोरोना बोल रहा हूँ,वही कोरोना, जो विषाणु है, जहरीला किटाणु है...
मैँ खुद भारत आने से कतरा रहा था...
इसीलिए चीन से इटली ,अमरीका, फ़्रांस और ईरान जा रहा था...
लेकिन मुझे भारत में लाया गया...
विमान से और बड़े सम्मान से...
कोणिका कपूर  के  हारे कई शहर घुमाया गया...
गवाया गया, नचाया गया, राष्ट्रपति और सांसद से भी मिलाया गया...
मेरे पाऊ  नहीं , मेहमानों के सहारे मंदिर गिरिजा गुरुद्वारे गया...
तब तक मै विषाणु था, जहरीला किटाणु था...
किन्तु एक दिन निजामुद्दीन के मरकज़ गया, यह कैसा तूफान हो गया...
मैँ विषाणु से, किटाणु से, एका-एक मुसलमान हो गया। 
मैँ तब से परेशान हो गया...

Today, there was a news in the media, about a BJP MLA from a constituency in Karnataka, celebrating his birthday with a large number of people from his village in the constituency.  It was reported that BJP MLA from the Turuvekere constituency in Karnataka was seen celebrating his birthday with several villagers in Gubbi Taluk in Tumkur, Karnataka. This was in spite of the lockdown orders, the culprit being a member of the assembly and the state having sealed its borders in the wake of positive cases in the state.  It has been reported across media.

In Uttarakhand alone, 4500 people were booked for violating the lockdown orders, and across India violators are being booked and making the fight against the disease tougher for the administration. What happens with violators from across communities and how media reports such incidents needs to be seen. How the BJP MLA news is followed up, needs to be seen.

Once again, it is a fight of the nation, a fight that needs to be fought with humanity and solidarity. Humanity - in understanding and supporting each other; solidarity - in supporting the actions of the governments, assuming what they are doing is for the better of the nation and its people.
