District Collector Tara Chand Meena conducted a surprise visit to the Fatehsagar Pal on Thursday morning and inspected the Kayaking and Canoeing Center operating on the Paal. The Collector understood the achievements and future prospects of the players after getting information about the game from Kayaking instructor Nischay Singh Chauhan. During his visit, he encouraged the players, and expressed his best wishes to the players and motivated them to practice and perform at national and international levels.
Meena said that the geographical location and environment of Udaipur is the best place in the state for water sports games. He added that if water sports is encouraged in Udaipur, it will not only help in increasing tourism, but also provide more opportunities to the talented sportspersons of the district to represent the state at the national level.
Canoe Sprint Chairman Piyush Kachhawa said that due to the lakes of Udaipur being between the mountains, there is no problem of strong wind and water is also available throughout the year. Both these easy conditions are not found anywhere else in the state. This is one reason why the players of Udaipur get more opportunities to represent the state at the national level with the facilities available for regular practice. In Kayaking and Canoeing sports, these small boats, which are operated only with paddle, keep the water pure and are helpful for the purification of the aquatic ecosystem. Kachhawa said that the District Collector, understanding the problems related to sports equipment and other facilities of the medal winners, assured them to open a water sports academy with new sports equipment, life saving apparatus and other sports facilities of international levels.
