In a major mishap that occurred today evening, two persons including a 2½ year old child died and three others were injured, when a truck fell over two motorcycles.  The accident took place on the Udaipur-Chittorgarh highway.

The accident occurred when an Ertiga and a Bolero jeep crashed at the Debari Power House circle.  To prevent further crash, the truck driver coming in just behind the Ertiga car tried to steer clear, and in the process collided into the GSS Powerhouse wall, but in the bargain crushed two motorcycles that were alongside the truck.

One of the ill-fated motorcycles passing by had a man, Rajendra Singh Rathore (28) and his wife Gajendra Kanwar (27) travelling with two children, a 4 year old girl (Nidhi Rathore) and a 2 ½ year old boy respectively.  During the mishap, the truck lost its balance and fell over the motorcycle trapping the 2 ½ -year-old kid along with the bike underneath the truck.

The other riders on the bike, a 4-year-old girl along with the man and his wife received severe injuries and were rushed to the GBH American Hospital.  The other bike was being driven by a man, Bansilal Mali (35) who was crushed to death.

The Police rescue team that rushed to the spot, along with the locals of the area commenced their efforts to save the trapped infant and after a more than 2 hours of rescue operation, the child was rescued at 9:17pm and rushed to GBH American Hospital. The child was taken in a critical condition to the hospital, but was declared dead on reaching the hospital.

According to sources the Bolero was on its way from Chittorgarh towards Udaipur and was travelling on the wrong side of the highway, while the Ertiga car was coming from the opposite direction.  Both cars crashed near the Debari Power House circle and in an attempt to save the crashed vehicles a truck coming at a high speed just behind the Ertiga tumbled to its side, taking in its fall, the two motorcycles resulting in the death of a man and a child.
