On account of carelessness due to an operating official at Chirwa Zip line, two people ended up crashing mid-air. One of them had a four year old daughter tied to him and luckily there were no casualties during the accident.

It may be noted that a zip line was started at valley of flowers, Chirwa, Udaipur last month. It has been a huge hit with visitors since then. On Sunday evening, however, this experience turned out to be scary for two people when they ended up crashing mid-air during their zip line experience.

The incident happened at around 4pm on Sunday evening. Bahadur (20), a resident of Roshan colony, Savina was about to finish his zip line ride when the wind direction reversed causing him to stop about 10-15 feet before the landing spot. The pulley on his rope then started reversing and took him back towards the center of the zip line.

In the interim, the zip line official released another rider Rajes (30) resident of Ahinsapuri, Fatehpura. Rajesh had his four year old tied to him. Seeing Rajesh come towards him, Bahadur gave out a huge cry and turned his back towards him. Rajesh also turned his back towards Bahadur and in the process moved his daughter away from impact.

Rajesh and Bahadur then crashed mid-way. The impact of crash was such that it caused one of them to turn upside down and he had to take support of the wire rope. Holding the wire-rope resulted in injuries to his hand. After that one official zipped to the spot and pulled Rajesh and Bahadur back to safety.

The crowd that was there started raising a lot of hue and cry against the officials stationed there. Eye-witnesses said that there were only 2 females and 3 males officials at the spot and they did not seem to have any sort of training.

OP Sharma, Deputy Forest Conservator (North), said that the zip line is completely secure and the accident happened due to negligence of one staff member. He said that person is released on zip line only after a specified time period and after a particular sound from the rope. In this case, because of wind direction reversal, the issue happened. Learning from this, walkie-talkie will be provided to the officials to ensure that this incident is not repeated in future.
