A fatal accident between an overloaded cruiser and container resulted in the death of 5 people on the spot. The accident took place near Palodra on the Udaipur - Salumber highway.  Many were injured in the accident. Those killed included 2 ladies and 2 children - Mother and daughters

A fatal accident between an overloaded cruiser and container resulted in the death of 5 people on the spot. The accident took place near Palodra on the Udaipur – Salumber highway.  Many were injured in the accident. Those killed included 2 ladies and 2 children – Mother and daughters.

As per information received, an overloaded cruiser was plying from Udaipur towards Banswara.  When the cruiser maneuvered a sharp turn near Palodra, it crashed head on into a speeding dumper coming from the opposite direction.  Both vehicles were at a high speed.  The accident was so intense that it the cruiser was crushed with the dead bodies still inside the vehicle.

Villagers from the nearby area rushed to the spot.  The police, with the help of the onlookers, removed the bodies as well as injured people from the crushed cruiser and the injured were transported to MB Hospital at Udaipur.

Mother and 2 Daughters killed in the accident

Those identified among the dead, were 30 year old Harsha Suthar, wife of Vipin Suthar and her two daughters – Jaini aged 5 and Charvi aged 3, residents of Sagwara, Dungarpur. Others included Vandana, 30, wife of Nilesh Suthar resident of Sagwara; 45 year old Rajendra Purohit, son of Vasudev Purohit, resident of Sagwara.

Police have identified the injured as – Mahendra Dindor, 26, son of Balkishen, resident of Sagwara, Girish, 32, son of Vasudev Dindor, resident of Sagwara, Raveena, 30, daughter of Ramesh Dindor, resident of Sagwara, Nilesh, 17, son of Manaklal Dundor, resident of Khatlai, Dungarpur, Goverdhan, 18, son of Ganeshlal, resident of Khatlai, Dungarpur and the driver of the ill fated cruiser, Prahlad, 34, son of Vijay Singh, resident of Sagwara.

Rs. 1 Lakh announced for kin of deceased

Udaipur District Collector, Anandi announced an immediate relief of Rs 1 Lakh for the kin of those dead in the accident, from the Chief Ministers Relief Fund.
