8 Die, 32 injure as two Buses Crash on Salumbar-Banswara Road

Six people died on the spot, while 2 succumbed to their injuries soon after admission to MB Hospital in a fatal accident today afternoon at Paluna, 35km from Udaipur, on Salumbar-Banswara road, where two passenger buses crashed into each other.

Six people died on the spot, while 2 succumbed to their injuries soon after admission to MB Hospital in a fatal accident today afternoon at Paluna, 35km from Udaipur, on Salumbar-Banswara road, where two passenger buses crashed into each other.

More than 30 people are injured in the mishap, many of them are in critical state. All injured were rescued by three ambulances and one bus put-in for rescue.

Names of People died

The youngest victim of accident is a 16-year-old Harish s/o Gautam from Paluna. Others who died in the mishap are identified as Aamina Bai (70) w/o Ali Mohammad resident of Mulla Talai Udaipur, Aamina bai was on her way to Salumber to attend a family function; a young man identified as Vishal and Sadhna Sharma, 32, resident of Shantinagar, University road was employed as teacher in Salumber.

Poonja Meena (former up-sarpanch Limbuheda Paal), Chagan Lal resident of Sadgari Falan, Amri and Shivram, resident of Sarada also died in the mishap.

Gokul Meena (15), Gautam (12), Bhupendra (12), Bherulal (30), Shamu (25), Roshanlal (45), Jagdish (22), Vinji (50), Devilal (12), Kalu Singh (31), Pushpa (15), Karma (10), Meena (23), Kiran (22), Nani Bai (70), Suraj S ingh (12), Pani Bai (35), Deepa Bhatnagar (40), Hemlata (19), Sunita(17), Rakesh (12), Jeevat ram (12), Keshu Lal (bus conductor), Nagendra Patel (32), Dharmi (32), Jamshed Khan (26), Sohan (31), Chetna Dangi (28), Nani Bai (68), Shehnaaz (30), Zehra Banu (50) and Sushila (52).

Two buses collided

According to one of the victims, Jyoti Dashotra, who fortunately escaped unhurt, the accident took place at around 1:30pm, when two buses moving respectively from, Salumber to Udaipur and Udaipur to Sarada smashed together at Paluna, 1km before Palodra. The buses were owned by Palak Travels and Asha Travels.

Rs.20,000 compensation for dead and Rs.5000 for injured

District collector of Udaipur announced compensation of Rs.20,000 for deceased and Rs.5000 for injured victims of the accident from Chief Minister’s Fund.

All senior police officers and relatives of victims rushed to MB Hospital

Almost all senior police officials, including Add. S. P., Dy S. P., SHOs and C. I.s reached MB Hospital. Kailash Dan Jugtawat C. O., Salumber was also there.

The news spread like fire in the jungle and large number of people, most of them were relatives of the victims gathered around hospital, and some of them were seen waiting outside mortuary.

Later, Raghuveer Singh Meena, MP also reached MB Hospital to meet the victims.

According to sources, the toll might rise as many of the injured are in serious condition.

So far, there is no valid reason coming out, as in what circumstances the accident took place and who is responsible.

Till writing this news, UT was not able to reach drivers of the buses, who are said to be among injured.
