1 man was injured in a case of accidental firing that took place at Hiran Magri Police station yesterday evening. An elderly man pressed the trigger of his gun and the bullet brushed his own elbow before hitting the nearby wall.

In view of the upcoming Assembly elections, district collector had issued orders to all licensed gun owners to submit their arms to the Police. As part of that Gayrawas resident Manoharlal Suhalka (64) reached Hiran Magri Police station yesterday evening. His gun was loaded at that time. Mistakenly, Suhalka pressed the trigger and the bullet got lodged into the wall nearby after brushing his elbow.

Firing led to an immediate commotion in the Police station. Constables then took Suhalka to hospital where he was discharged after preliminary treatment.

Police have treated this as an accidental case and not lodged a complaint for the same.
