An acid tanker overturned at Udaipur-Chittor highway today morning. The incident happened near Debari.
Wednesday i.e. today morning an acid tanker lost control and overturned near Debari on Chittor route. The tanker driver got seriously injured. Traffic came to a standstill and people started panicking since there was a fear of leakage which could have been fatal. People somehow managed to pull out the driver and rushed him to hospital. Police were informed. Pratapnagar police reached the spot and regularised traffic in the area. Petroleum officers were informed regarding the incident.
As per police reports, the tanker was on its way to Uttar Pradesh from Ahmedabad. It contained nitrate acid. The driver lost control on the slope as a result of which the tanker overturned. Driver got badly stuck in the cabin. People called for a crane, broke the cabin and pulled out the driver. He has been admitted to MB hospital. The driver succumbed to severe head injury but has been declared out of danger by the medical team. He is yet to be identified.
Pratapnagar SI Mahipal Singh reached with his team and regularised the traffic. The one hour traffic jam caused enough concern to people rushing for the airport. Police managed to shift the tanker to road side with the help of crane before the arrival of Petroleum department. The Petroleum department checked the tanker’s condition for safety. It may be noted that the slope on this route has invited trouble in the past as well.
