Air Ambulance Crashes in Jharkhand Killing all 7 Onboard
An air ambulance operated by Redbird Airways crashed near Simaria, Jharkhand, killing all seven onboard, including a patient and medical crew; a probe has been launched, with bad weather suspected
Feb 24, 2026 - An air ambulance carrying seven people crashed in a forest near Simaria in Jharkhand on Monday (February 23) evening killing all onboard. The chartered aircraft, a Beechcraft C90 operated by Delhi’s Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd, was on its way from Ranchi to Delhi.
The air ambulance was transporting patient Sanjay Kumar (41) to Delhi for advanced treatment for 65% burns. He was accompanied by his wife Archana Devi and a relative, Dhuru Kumar, who also perished in the crash. The other four on board were the two pilots, one doctor and one paramedic. They have been identified as Captain Vivek Vikas Bhagat, Captain Savrajdeep Singh, Dr Vikas Kumar Gupta and Sachin Kumar Mishra.
According to the authorities, the cause of the crash is still being ascertained though preliminary probe points to bad weather conditions which may have led to the aircraft losing control. The crew had requested a deviation because of the turbulent weather shortly before all communication with the aircraft was lost. The plane's last contact was with Kolkata air traffic control.
