At Least 4 Students Dead in Rajasthan School Building Collapse
Portion of Government Upper Primary School in Piplod village collapses; several critically injured
July 25, 2025 – In a tragic incident this morning, four students of a government school in Rajasthan were killed when a portion of their school building collapsed. The incident occurred at around 8:30 am when the children of the Government Upper Primary School in Jhalawar district’s Piplod village were on their way for morning prayers.
The deceased are between 14 and 16 years of age.
According to the local police, 3-4 of the injured children are in a critical condition. The injured include students and staff members.
Reports say the school has a strength of around 27 students and 17 of them were present in the portion of the building structure which collapsed. Most of the trapped have been rescued and taken to hospital, a police official said. Rescue operations are underway.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has expressed shock and grief at the incident. State Education Minister Madan Dilawar said an investigation has been launched into the incident and instructions have been given to examine the stability of other structures within the school campus.
As per initial reports, the building was in a dilapidated condition and continuous rain over the past few days had weakened the structure further
