Bus falls into 30-feet ditch on Udaipur-Salumber route

A private bus took a 30-feet plunge on Friday afternoon near Jaisamand Bassi village on the Udaipur-Salumber route. All 25 passengers in the bus were injured. The injured also include many children. Two of the injured are critical and have been referred to MB Hospital Udaipur.

A private bus took a 30-feet plunge on Friday afternoon near Jaisamand Bassi village on the Udaipur-Salumber route. All 25 passengers in the bus were injured. The injured also include many children. Two of the injured are critical and have been referred to MB Hospital Udaipur.

Police informed that the private bus lost control and fell into the ditch. The bus passengers started to shout and cry on the occasion. Hearing their cry for help, passerby and villagers reached the spot and broke open the bus windows to pull out the passengers.

Salumber Police also reached the spot with 108 ambulance service and the injured were taken to Salumber hospital.

Villagers informed that private buses ply on this route as part of suburban service offering. For this, buses are issued permit to operate within 50kms of district headquarter Udaipur. In that sense, buses have permit to operate till Jaisamand. The bus operators however flout the norms and provide services beyond the jurisdiction.
