Local villagers protest administration inaction in managing traffic situation at the Punjab turning which, they say, is the site for frequent accidents
Rajsamand, February 12, 2025 - A major accident occurred at around midnight yesterday at the Punjab turn near Desuri ki Nal Ghat section in which a bus carrying passengers lost control and overturned. More than 30 passengers have been injured in the accident, two of them seriously. The injured were taken to Charbhuja Hospital.
Local villagers are angry over the frequent incidents of road mishaps in Desuri ki Nal. Just a few days ago, a school bus overturned, resulting in the deaths of three students on the spot. People are protesting the recurring accidents at the Punjab turning because no significant action has been taken by the administration to rectify the traffic situation at this point. They have demanded that the administration take necessary steps to improve traffic management at this turn.
Police officials said that the cause of the accident is under investigation but preliminary probe point to the bus losing control and hitting rocks because of which it overturned.
All passengers on the bus were from the same family, traveling from Ahmedabad to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh. After praying at Sawariyan Seth they were headed to their village Koselav in Pali district's Sumerpur Tehsil. The accident occurred when the bus was on its way from Charbhuja to Desuri.
The police have appealed to the public to follow traffic rules and drive cautiously on the Ghat section.
