The pain-staking search  for the body of 4 year old Chahak came to an end at around 12AM today as the dead body of the girl, who had drowned following the unfortunate incident at Fatehsagar on 29th May was found floating near the Mewar Darshan Deerga side bank of Fatehsagar lake.  A few people present at the site saw the floating body and informed the police.

When the body was found floating, the people on the bank went into the lake and brought up the body while at the same time informing the police.  The body was sent to the mortuary at MB Hospital.  As per the rescuers, the body was covered in the life jacket and there was a deep wound on the throat of the girl, which supposedly happened when the speed boat hit the passenger boat.

Earlier, subsequent to the accident the rescue divers team consisting of Chhotu Lal, Ahsan Mohammad, Gani Mohammad and Noor bhai kept up their search operation till 11PM, but to no avail.  The search operation began again at 7:30AM and continued till 1PM but due to the presence of excess underwater grass in the area of the accident, the operation was ceased.  It again began at 3PM and went on till 11PM on Tuesday and the divers went till the bottom of the lake, but the body was not found.  Subsequently the administration had decided to seek the help of the Navy to recover the body.

At the other end, the family of the deceased girl has yet not been made aware of the situation – the girls mother Deepika has been in a state of trance and asking about her daughter, while the father Vidhyadhar, who is seriously injured, is being treated in hospital, is unconscious and under ventilator.  Dr Uday Bahmik of GMCH has said that the situation is serious and the patient is in coma.  The elder brother of Vidhyadhar and other family members have arrived from Jaipur to take care of the situation.  The doctors say that water had entered into the lungs of the patient.

The other injured, Sumit Sharma, had a fracture in his nose bone, which has been treated.  He is still unable to speak due to injury in the jawline and is being kept on liquid food.

CCTV footage of the evenings event shows that the speed boat hit the larger motor boat at 16:23hrs after leaving the bank at 1621hrs.  The footage shows that the motor boat had not stalled, and that the speed boat had hit the moving motor boat.  The speed boat contractor however says that the motor boat stopped in mid water, which resulted in the collision.

Whatever be the case and who ever may be the culprit – the fact stands that this episode has resulted in the loss of life of an innocent little girl, which will be a life long trauma for the family.  The girls father too is in serious condition and all prayers for his recovery.
