A fire broke out at Swad restaurant situated at Chetak Circle last night at 9:15 am. Fire broke out on account of bursting of a gas cylinder in the restaurant kitchen.

Fire brigades from Udaipur Municipal Corporation rushed to the spot and got the fire under control preventing any major accident. However, a firefighter Mohan Singh and chef and other employees at the restaurant were severely burnt during the incident.

Police present at the location dispersed the crowd that had gathered around the area and took the injured to hospital. As per the eye-witnesses, bursting of the gas cylinder resulted in fire and huge flames erupted in the area. These flames engulfed the restaurant and caused the burns.

People staying behind the restaurant complaint that often gas is transferred from one cylinder to the other in an unsafe manner behind the restaurant. This makes it unsafe not only for the restaurant but also for people living nearby.
