Five Killed in Tragic Road Accident in Udaipur

Mishap occurred near Gogunda-Pindwara on National Highway NH-27; a trailer, whose brakes had failed, hit the tempo carrying 14 passengers; four women and one minor boy dead and eight injured

Udaipur, January 3, 2025 – Five people were killed in a tragic road accident in Udaipur following a collision between a trailer and a tempo. According to reports just in, the accident occurred today, January 3, at around 12:30 pm near Gogunda-Pindwara on National Highway NH-27. Eight people have been injured and admitted to Udaipur hospital.

Eyewitnesses said the trailer's brakes had failed, causing it to crash into the tempo. The five were killed on the spot. After the collision, the trailer's driver fled the scene.

SP Udaipur Yogesh Goyal informed that the accident occurred near the Malwa ka Chaura bridge on the National Highway. A cut has been made for vehicles to enter the highway from Saleria village. The tempo, carrying 14 people, was coming from Saleria village and was heading towards Devla when a trailer, moving at high speed, hit it from behind. The impact was so severe that the passengers were thrown out of the tempo which was crushed badly.

As of now, the identities of the injured and deceased have not been confirmed. The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the mortuary for post-mortem.

Highway Patrol Officer Bhagwat Singh Jhala said there were 14 passengers in the tempo. The authorities had already received information about the trailer's brakes failing. They immediately alerted the nearby police station and other team members, but the accident occurred before any help could arrive.

SP Udaipur Yogesh Goyal said the deceased included four women and a 13-year-old minor boy. The women died on the spot while the minor succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
