Kumbh Mela: Bus with 40 Udaipur residents falls into gorge

A bus carrying 40 residents of Udaipur district fell into a 50 feet gorge on Monday evening. The pilgrims were going for Chitrakoot darshan after taking the holy bath at Prayagraj Kumbh Mela 2019.

A bus carrying 40 residents of Udaipur district fell into a 50 feet gorge on Monday evening. The pilgrims were going for Chitrakoot darshan after taking the holy bath at Prayagraj Kumbh Mela 2019.

The accident happened at Patauna bridge in Manjhanpur Kotwali, Kaushambi district. The bus driver lost control of the bus after he spotted a sudden breaker near Patauna bridge. The bus fell into a 50 feet gorge and overturned.

The passengers in the bus said that due to suddenly spotting the breaker, the driver could not turn the steering and as a result the bus fell into the gorge.

As per doctors, the condition of 2 passengers is critical while rest are all safe. The 2 critically injured passengers were referred to Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital, Prayagraj. All passengers are said to be from Udaipur district, Rajasthan.

Pradeep Gupta, SP, Manjhanpur Kotwali, reached the spot with Police and ambulance. The injured were immediately rushed to hospital. All except two seriously injured passengers were discharged after first aid.
