Massive Fire in Chemical Factory leaves 8 injured and 2 dead
massive fire at Deepa Chemicals situated at Sukher industrial area in Udaipur resulted in the unfortunate death of one person, leaving the factory and surrounding premises scorched
A sky scraper height black smog filled the skies in the areas as a result of the massive fire which took 3 hours of concerted efforts by the fire fighters to douse. Blasts took place one after another at the factory, causing alarm in the area.
The fire started at around 2:45PM and though fire tenders rushed to the spot immediately, the chemical drums lying inside the factory started blasting one after the other, resulting in adding fuel to the fire. It is said that around 25 workers were in the factory when the fire started, out of which 8 were badly burnt and were taken to hospital. As per latest reports 2 persons have died due to the fire. The nearby factories and neighboring shops were immediately vacated to prevent further damage. The other injured are being treated in hospital and their condition is said to be critical.
As per the police the fire could have been caused by a electric short circuit, though no one is sure of the reason.
