In a case of accident/suspected suicide, a patient died after falling from the second floor at MB hospital on Saturday. While family members have lodged the matter as a case of accidental death, the matter of suicide is also under investigation.

As per details received, the deceased has been identified as Ratan Singh (55), a resident of Badavali in Semari. He was admitted to MB hospital on Friday. Ratan was suffering from diabetes. He was feeling intense pain and burning sensation in hands and legs on account of his disease and was also under depression. He was admitted in ward no 5 at MB hospital. He was an LIC agent and also in the business of lamps.

On Saturday morning, he went to the bathroom from his bed. Suddenly there was a huge thud coming from his fall to ground. Crowd gathered at the spot and doctors, nurses and police were informed.

Family members have lodged a case of accidental death and accused the nursing staff of negligence in the case. The family members accused that given that Ratan was not well, nursing staff should not have allowed him to go alone to the toilet. Hospital administration suggested the possibility of Ratan falling due to dizziness.

Police on the other hand is also investigating the matter of suicide since the bathroom window was almost 3 feet high and chances of accidentally falling are slim.
