Navy’s Dornier Crash: Bodies of Abhinav & Co-Pilot found

A heart wrenching news came in light when body of Udaipur’s 24 year-old naval officer Lt. Abhinav Nagori was recovered today and taken to Goa. Both the missing bodies of Abhinav and Lt. Kiran Shekhawat were found today after the mishap of Dornier aircraft crash off the Goa coast.

At the time of Indian Navy’s Dornier aircraft crash, three officers were on the plane when it went down. While Commander Nikhil Kuldip Joshi was rescued by fisherman yesterday, the other officers were missing.

The 24 year old Lieutenant Abhinav Nagori had joined the Navy in July 2012 and was training to be a pilot. 12 ships with naval divers and four aircrafts were used to search for the plane wreckage which crashed during a routine sortie.

This is the first Dornier of the Indian Navy to crash since it was inducted into the Navy in the early 90s. The ill-fated Dornier was carrying out a search and rescue exercise at night when it crashed.
