Rescued Striped Hyena died due to Septicemic Shock
An Indian Striped Hyena (Hyaena hyaena) that was rescued some time back from the Sumer Forest Range of Kumbhalgarh National Sanctuary, died of illness today at the Gulab Bagh Zoo.
An Indian Striped Hyena (Hyaena hyaena) that was rescued some time back from the Sumer Forest Range of Kumbhalgarh National Sanctuary, died of illness today at the Gulab Bagh Zoo.
The Hyena was rescued after it ran into a house near the forest range was brought to Udaipur in a deplorable condition with wounds on his body and maggots inside.
Dr. Pradeep Pradhan, Director at Gulab Bagh Zoo informed that the Hyena died last night of Septicemic Shock as it was unable to recover due to the maggots eating it alive from inside.
The animal was buried today morning at the Gulab Bagh premises in front of the administrative authorities.
Striped Hyenas are placed under the category of Schedule-III of the Indian Wildlife Protection Act (I972).
