Russian Passenger Plane Crashes; No Survivors Reported

July 24, 2025 – A Russian AN-24 passenger aircraft with reportedly 49 passengers has crashed just a few kilometres away from its destination after it lost contact with air traffic controllers this July 24 morning.

An intense search was launched for the plane after it went off the radar. A rescue helicopter located its burning fuselage in the far eastern Amur region on a mountainside about 16 kms from Tynda, according to sources. There appear to be no sign of any survivors.

The plane, operated by a Siberia-based airline called Angara was approaching its destination of Tynda, a town in the Amur region bordering China, when it crashed. According to initial information, it was carrying 43 passengers, including five children and six crew members.  

As per the Russian news agency Tass, the crash was caused by a crew error during landing in poor visibility.
