4 Savina Youths Killed in Major Road Accident on Bypass

Six others were seriously injured after two cars collided head-on on the old Ahmedabad Bypass in Udaipur’s Savina area early Saturday morning

Udaipur, Jan 17, 2026 - Four youngsters were killed on the spot in a major road accident in the Savina area of the city early Saturday (January 17) morning. Six others were seriously injured in the head-on collision between two cars at around 3:00 am near Nela Talab on the old Ahmedabad Bypass.

The collision was so severe that both cars were badly damaged and the occupants trapped inside. Police and local residents had to use cutters and other equipment to rescue the injured and retrieve the bodies.

The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Ayan (17), Adil Qureshi (14), Sher Mohammad (19) and Ghulam Khwaja (17), all residents of Savina. Two others in the same car - Wasim (20) and Mohammad Kaif (19) - were seriously injured and admitted to MB Hospital in Udaipur. Later, Wasim was taken to Ahmedabad by family members.

Savina Station House Officer Ajay Singh Rao said that one car had a Udaipur registration number, while the other was registered in Gujarat. The youths in the Udaipur-registered car were heading to the bypass to have tea after attending a Mehfil-e-Milad programme near Nela Talab. On entering the bypass, their vehicle collided head-on with the Gujarat-registered car coming from the opposite direction, said the police.

The Gujarat-registered car was also completely damaged. Four people, including a woman, were injured in that vehicle. They have been identified as Mahipal Jat (48), his wife Rajbala (45), their son Rajesh (26), and Kamveer Singh (24). All are residents of Rajgarh in Churu district and were traveling from Churu to Vapi (Gujarat). They have been admitted to a private hospital in Udaipur.

Police removed both damaged vehicles from the road using a crane and parked them outside Savina police station. The bodies have been kept at the mortuary of MB Hospital for postmortem. The cause of the accident is being investigated.
