Udaipur, May 9, 2025 - Udaipur, May 9, 2025 – Two separate road accidents occurred on National Highway 48 near Ahmedabad, claiming the lives of four people and injuring several others. The incident happened last evening, May 8 both in the Parsad area, 20 minutes apart and approximately 200 metres from each other.

In the Parsad police station area, a speeding trailer rammed into a stationary car that had stopped owing to a traffic jam. The impact was so severe that two Surat (Gujarat) residents, Harish (son of Amarawal) and Neeraj (son of Parikh), died on the spot. The rescue team, led by Sarada DSP Chandmal Singaria, had to work strenuously to extricate the trapped passengers from the wrecked car. The bodies were then sent to the mortuary.

About 20 minutes after the first incident, another trailer lost control near the Parsad bridge and collided with a State Transport bus and three cars. This serious crash resulted in the death of two persons - an unidentified woman and another identified as Neeraj. Among the severely injured were Minesh (son of Harish) and Ami (wife of Neeraj), both Surat residents, who were referred to Udaipur for further medical treatment after receiving first aid.

The Goverdhan Vilas police promptly reached the accident site and diverted traffic. Two fire tenders were summoned from Udaipur to clean the oil spillage on the road, and cranes were used to remove the overturned trailers and vehicles, allowing the highway to reopen.

DSP Chandmal Singaria said the cause of both the accidents is being probed with the likelihood of high speed and possible brake failure being the primary reasons. Police have filed two FIRs.
