Helawadi, situated in Ghanta Ghar area witnessed a severe blast in cylinder at 10.30 PM due to gas leak that left two of the family members dead.

Helawadi, situated in Ghanta Ghar area witnessed a severe blast in cylinder at 10.30 PM due to gas leak that left two of the family members dead.

The victims Abdul Hamid (25) with his 8 year old daughter Afreen were burnt alive in the mishap. The victims were living in a rented house when yesterday, victim Abdul lit the stove to boil milk when suddenly cylinder caught fire and the flames spread in the room. He tried to extinguish the fire but failed.

The police and fire brigade was informed immediately by the neighbors who allegedly accuse the fire brigade to have reached at the spot an hour late. Both the burnt victims were rushed to the hospital where they were declared dead. On the other hand, Abdul’s wife Sonu was at her parent’s house with his son at Helawadi.

With the delay of rescue operation, the neighbors started extinguishing fire by throwing water buckets and took out the burnt victims.

The community members on hearing the news reached MB Hospital and showed agitation towards the delay of action. DSP Raja Ram Meena, Officer Nathu Singh, Surajpol police station SHO Jitendra Anchaliya reached the hospital and controlled the situation.
