15-20 Lakh litre water goes waste as truck rams into water pipeline
In a freak accident yesterday, a trailer truck driver lost control of his truck and the truck overturned and hit a water pipeline supplying water to Udaipur. Around 15-20 Lakh litre water flowed over before the damage could be controlled.
In a freak accident yesterday, a trailer truck driver lost control of his truck and the truck overturned and hit a water pipeline supplying water to Udaipur. Around 15-20 Lakh litre water flowed over before the damage could be controlled.
The incident happened yesterday morning when a truck coming from Banswara towards Udaipur lost control and rammed into water pipeline bringing water from Jaisamand Lake and supplying it to Udaipur. The incident happened at Rela Mod on Udaipur road falling under Zawar Mines Police Station area. The truck driver jumped out to save his life and survived with minor injuries.
The pipeline burst due to the impact and huge water fountain burst out stopping traffic for almost an hour on the route. Four pumps at Jaisamand, Kewra ki Naal, Kewda and Daya dam were stopped to carry out repair work. The truck was removed with help of a crane after which repair wa carried out.
Repair work went on till late evening after which the pumps were restarted. PHED officials said that water supply in Hiran Magri sector 4,5,6,9 and 14 were impacted for about 14 hours because of this mishap.
