59% cases are of close contacts, promting the Collector to suggest social distancing measures within homes and business establishments

District Collector has issued a directive, instructing comprehensive sampling of super spreaders including barbers, spa owners and workers, milk men, vegetable vendors, kirana store owners, liquor store owners and workers, pharmacy owners and workers, bakers, auto rickshaw drivers, etc.

This sampling will be conducted before 24 August. These shops will be allowed to operate only when all the members of the unit are tested negative.

Of the 379 cases in the last 10 days, 59% of the cases are due to close contacts. This has led the Collector to advice residents of the district to observe social distancing at home and business establishments as well. This is necessary, he suggests, to ensure that close contact infection is mitigated.

While the number of cases in the district has increased due to close contact, 38% of the cases in the last 10 days are related to new cases within the district. Migrants, which made up for a majority of cases in June and July are just 3% of the total. The Collector, however, has not addressed the rising cases in the rural areas and upcountry towns such as Rishbhdeo, Bhinder, Salumber, Kherwara etc. It has been noted that social distancing norms are not being observed to a great extent in the rural areas.

The District Collector also recommended voluntary testing by individuals if they feel that they have developed any symptoms such as cough, cold, fever, headaches or difficulty in breathing. Testing is available across many COVID testing centers across the district and is being conducted free of cost.
