The government and local administration have taken a few decisive steps to check the growing number of COVID cases in Udaipur over the last three weeks.

While the average cases in the last 20 days have doubled as compared to Lockdown 4, the average cases in the last 14 days have tripled.

Over the last 20 days, 266 new cases have been detected in Udaipur.  As per the number provided by the CMHO office, UdaipurTimes insight shows that nearly 50% of the cases are close contacts of the new patients.  50% of the new patients are migrants.  From the remaining 25%, nearly 40% are corona warriors, which include police personnel and doctors.

Dr Dinesh Kharadi, CMHO, Udaipur, in a statement issued to the media today evening, said that though the total count of positive cases in Udaipur has crossed the 900 mark, only 111 active cases are being monitored in the hospital and under home isolation.  789 patients have recovered and 724 patients have been discharged.  Of the daily augmentation of new cases, most are migrants and close contacts of migrants or those who have been in connect with the migrants. Watch video or read on for what the CMHO had to say:

Addressing the public of Udaipur through media, Dr Kharadi said that the District Collector, in a marathon meeting held on 13 July, issued orders for close monitoring of the health of the residents of Udaipur district.  The local administration has taken the following steps to address the situation and arrest the growth in number of cases.

  • District administration has set up 6 COVID testing centres across Udaipur. These are a Nagar Nigam, Community centre in Sector 14, Krishi Mandi Dispensary, Satellite hospital in Sector 6 Hiran Magri and satellite hospital in Chandpol.  Residents can go to any of these centers and get themselves tested.
  • Each block thus has a centre where one can submit their sample for testing. Infrastructure is in place.
  • There will be sample collection team in the OPD and MB general hospital as well.
  • Officers have to ensure that no ILE case skips sample testing.
  • 3 nodal officers have been appointed in the containment zones, one each from the health department, administration and police.
  • Nodal officer from health department will ensure that close contact sampling is comprehensive. 20-25 houses in the proximity of the positive patients home will be comprehensively tested.
  • High risk cases (high risk spreaders, elderly,m etc) will be tested comprehensively.
  • Nodal officer from the administration department will ensure that food, milk and ration supply in the containment area is take cared of.
  • Nodal officer from the police department will ensure that law and order is in place and home quarantine of the infected person is being done strictly.
