As per sources Udaipur Police, in a swift action following unrest after the Maldas Street murder, have arrested the two murderers from Bheem from Rajsamand, near Udaipur. The accused are being brought to Udaipur, folllowing which, more information will be available.
The gruesome murder in the walled city area of the city today afternoon, has put the city under threat of communal violence. A tailor, Kanhaiyalal, was murdered in broad daylight by two youth from Udaipur, identified as Mohammad Riaz Attari and Gaus Mohammad by the Udaipur Police. A video of the murder and the post murder video of the two youth claiming to have carried out the gruesome act, has put the city’s populace under threat of unwarranted violence.
The Chief Minister of the state, Ashok Gehlot, in a Tweet, has condemned the murder and appealed for peace, while also emphasizing that social media messages should not be taken cognizance of,
Allegedly, the shopkeeper who runs a tailoring shop, was murdered in response to a comment on his social media account on a post related to the infamous Nupur Sharma of the BJP, whose unwarranted comments on Prophet Mohammad have already sparked unrest in the country. The Police have not given any confirmed information on the cause of the murder.
This horrible act has sparked tension in Udaipur, especially the sensitive areas of Hathipol in the walled city, where the incident happened. Protests have begun in parts of the city, with the members of the community to which the victim belonged, calling for immediate action and arrest.
The administration has scheduled a 24 hr internet shutdown barring broadband and lease line connections.
