Free Parking at Fatehsagar Dewali SCERT Udaipur Smart City

The Fatehsagar Lake at Udaipur is a popular destination for tourists and Udaipur’s local alike. The area is usually bustling, whether it is early in the morning, in the afternoon, or late at night. Most visitors come in the morning to enjoy the lake and get some fresh air. Most of them do exercise and swimming as well. Increase in pollution on the Paal side has been a concern for the administration, and curbing of vehicle parking is the first such step being taken by the administration.

“This is being done to make Fatehsagar a more hospitable place for locals and visitors in terms of health.” – SP Vikas Sharma.

District Collector, Tarachad Meena, and SP Vikas Sharma have taken the initiative to make this area traffic-free. Vehicle Parking will be forbidden at the Dewali end of Fatehsagar Paal  from Monday, 12 September. To facilitate free parking for visitors to Fatehsagar, the administration has provided a secure and covered parking at the SCERT premises on the base of Neemuchmata. Vehicles can be parked there and the entire entrance area of Fatehsagar Paal will be pollution free as far as vehicle fumes are concerned. Entry to and Exit from the parking will be at separate points.

“People who come here in the morning and evening had talked about the issues caused by the congestion of vehicles here, in that perspective this method is being implemented.” – Tarachand Meena, District Collector.

Daily visitors were having a lot of problems because vehicles were parked all over the place and blocking the road for those who preferred to walk. The area will benefit from this implementation in terms of pollution and a calm environment. Tourists coming to Fatehsagar will encounter less chaos.  The government is doing its utmost to achieve Udaipur's goal of making the city smart. Since past few years many initiatives have been taken by the government in terms of city’s development and this will continue in the coming years also.
