Gujarat based Adani Gas Ltd has bagged the CNG Domestic and Industrial supply project for Udaipur and Chittaurgarh, as per the release issued by PNGRB on 10 August.  So Udaipur, be prepared for another battle on the roads as the digging for laying the gas pipelines will begin soon.

Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board had undertaken a massive exercise in which bids were invited from major players of PNG distribution system for executing pipelined supply of CNG to domestic and industrial consumers in many districts all over India. The bids invited also included the district of Udaipur- Chittorgarh and Bhilwara –Bundi among other districts of state of Rajasthan.  The ambitious projects for the purpose is being regulated by the regulatory authority namely Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB).

As per press release dated 10 August, 2018 issued by PNGRB, the PNG pipeline supply work for the districts of Udaipur and Chaittaurgarh (barring Rawatbhata sub division) has been allotted to Ahmedabad based M/s Adani Gas Limited.

Under the city gas distribution project, PNG will be supplied for domestic, industrial and commercial purposes, while compressed natural gas (CNG) will be supplied for application in the transportation sector. The implementation would replace the present door to door supply of LPG cylinders and the gas shall be available like water pipe line right up to your kitchen, restaurant, factory and other users.

The people of city of Udaipur, Chittaurgarh(barring Rawatbhata sub-division) including towns like Mavli, Kapasan, Nimbahera, Begun and many other would be benefited from the project and reliance on LPG cylinder would cease.  For rolling out the project extensive work related to laying of pipe lines and other infrastructure would take time.

It would be a great achievement, if the lines are laid at fast pace and becomes operational within next two years. So, in short after allotment of project to Adani Gas Limited, the first connection to a user would take at the least two years or so. This Ahmedabad based company has also won the bid for execution of similar work in the districts of Bhilwara and Bundi. While the bid is gone in favour of M/s Torrent Gas Pvt Ltd for this work in the district of Jaipur and Alwar (barring Bhiwadi).

The press release says that in phased manner as on 30th September, 2028, there will be 1,53,05,564 domestic PNG connections in India, while there will be 3627 CNG stations.
