Udaipur, Jan 29, 2026 - District Collector Namit Mehta chaired a meeting on Wednesday (January 28) in Udaipur on implementation of pollution control measures. During the meeting, Dr Sharad Saxena, Regional Officer of the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board, shared the decisions of the State-level Steering Committee meeting held on January 7, 2026.

New initiatives are being launched to maintain Udaipur air quality. Under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), the district-level implementation committee’s review meetings will now be held every month to monitor pollution levels and improve air quality. Regular monitoring of pollution levels will be conducted, and tools like anti-smog guns and mechanised road sweeping machines will be used to curb pollution.

In the meeting, the Collector instructed all relevant departments to take action within a specified timeline. He also emphasised the necessity of sharing actions taken in the monthly district committee meetings with the Environment Department. Discussions were held regarding the establishment of automated vehicle testing stations and vehicle scrapping facilities within one year to control pollution in the transport sector. The purchase of e-buses and increasing the number of EV charging stations in the city was also given importance.

Industrial units failing to comply with regulations will be inspected, and strict pollution control measures will be implemented as per norms. Instructions were issued to develop paved roads end-to-end in industrial areas, repair potholes, maintain dust-free roads, scientifically manage non-hazardous waste and develop green belts. The Collector instructed all departments to work in coordination to ensure timely achievement of the National Clean Air Programme objectives.

Detailed discussions were held on implementing organised and multi-level parking, constructing flyovers at railway crossings and major intersections, and effectively enforcing an integrated traffic management system.

The meeting was attended by Nagar Nigam Commissioner Abhishek Khanna, SDM Girwa Avula Saikrishna, SDM Badgaon Latika Paliwal, and officers from various departments.
