All those who become party to child marriage in any way will have to face either imprisonment or huge penalty as per law. Many child marriages were reported in Jaisamand area after which administration stopped the marriage from taking place and the families have been warned of the consequences.

Assistant Director of Department of Women and Child Development, Rashmi Koshisha, said that all those who attend any child marriage are liable for punishment. Child marriage is a crime and people participating in direct or indirect way shall be punished by law. People attending child marriage, priests or pandits, relatives, music teams, caterers, photographers, all cab or taxi suppliers, tent house etc. are equally responsible for supporting the crime. Hence all these people will either have to face 2 years imprisonment or one lakh rupees as fine or even both.

Recently many child marriages were stopped by police. In Kurabad, 2 under-age sisters were about to get married which was stopped by police. All family and relatives have been warned by police under sections of law. Even in Gogunda, a marriage was scheduled for 20^th April. When police got information of this child marriage, they went and checked all documents to determine the girl’s age. Parents have now been warned not to go ahead with marriage failing which they would be imprisoned and fined.
