Azim Premji Foundation will Train DEOs on Leadership Skills

A long standing demand of the District Education Officers will be satiated over the coming weeks, as the State Government has proposed a Soft Skills Development Training programs for the district 84 DEOs.

The DEOs had been demanding training on key management skills such as Leadership, Management and Communication Skills in the same manner as given to their counterpart RAS Officers prior to their appointment to various posts.  Based on this request, under the supervision of Secretary, Secondary Education Governing council, a State Level Screening Committee was formed, which evaluated the Skills of the DEOs across the state and decided to impart external training to develop the leadership and management skills to the DEOs.

This will be the first time that a State Government sponsored Training program will facilitate air travel for officers in the education department.  42 DEOs each will participate in the training program, conducted by the Azim Premji Foundation at Bangalore (Bengaluru) over two training windows; 18th – 25th May and 1st-7th June 2015.

Management Skills, Leadership Skills, imparting quality education, Communication Skills, etc. will form part of the Training content under this program.

DEOs who are due for retirement in 2015 will not be included in this program.  Post Training, the DEOs will return to their respective zones and will transfer their knowledge to Principals and Head Masters of various institutions under their jurisdiction.
