Stepping forward to protect the city lakes, the committee which handles the making and immersing of Badi Paltan ka Tazia, has decided not to submerge it into the lake this year. The Badi Paltan Ka Taziya is the largest Taziya that is created.

Faiz-e-Hussain Committee’s Abdul Majid has informed that, the decision was firstly taken a few years back but due to some circumstances, it could not be executed then. However, this year we have confirmed and decided not to submerge Badi Paltan Tazia into the Lake Pichola.

The height of Tazia is 35 feet and is made of iron, wood, plastic, thermocol and paper etc. The Tazia will be part of the main procession on 4th Nov but after reaching Pichola, the tazia will return back to the Badi Paltan Masjid and the iron structure will be kept safe in Masjid while other things will be disposed carefully.

The novel step by the committee has been welcomed by the lake conservators of the city and the local administration.
