In a recent development, the Udaipur Urban Improvement Trust is all set to flag off the road expansion of Bhuwana Bypass after the State Government’s Approval.

The Rs.9.15 Crore project will ease the traffic movement on one of the busiest gateways to the city. Bhuwana Bypass is used to enter and exit in the city from the NH 8 Highway which is linked to Delhi via Jaipur and to Mumbai via Ahmadabad.

“Any project exceeding 5 Crore Rupees is taken by State Government; the tender of this project was finalized on 7th June and the work will start in the next 15 days”, said Sanjeev Sharma, Executive Engineer, UIT.

The 2 lane Bhuwana Bypass will be expanded to four lanes and considering the mounting traffic of heavy vehicles on this road the extension will give relief to the commuters.

Other than the subject, when asked about the elevated road project cancelled by G.S Sandhu in his last visit to Udaipur, Sanjeev Sharma said that the proposal is still under consideration, but with alternative measures.

“The biggest obstacle with elevated road project in the city is the electricity supply line of 33KV and to relocate it somewhere else is itself a new project”, said Sharma in a conversation with UT.
