Bird Park construction at Gulab Bagh to begin next month

Construction work for the bird park at Gubal Bagh is set to begin from next month i.e June. The design of five enclosures and one interpretation centre of the bird park was finalised by a consultant team recently. The consultant team had a discussion with officers from Forest department about the enclosure designs before finalising.

Chief Forest Conservator (Wildlife), Rahul Bhatnagar, informed that bird park will have a total of 11 enclosures including Emu cage, own house, scavanger vulture and falcon, macau cage, turkey cage amongst others. Out of these designs for 5 cages have been finalised and approvals received. Work on bird park will begin in the next 10-15 days.

The entire bird park will be built in an area of 5.11 hectare. The bird park will be set up at an estimated cost of Rs 11.5 Crores.

Bird park is expected to house over 50 species of birds. To spread additional awareness amongst visitors about the birds in the park, a museum and educational centre will also be set up in the park area.

Besides this, interactive wetland and ecosystem, health care centre, garden, green buffer area, railway track, recreational area, walkway for pedestrians and garden will also be developed.
