The Election Commission of India (ECI) in preparation of the next year’s General Elections of the country has appointed 1843 Booth Level Officers (BLO) in the state for updating their Voter Database.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) in preparation of the next year’s General Elections of the country has appointed 1843 Booth Level Officers (BLO) in the state for updating their Voter Database.

In the series of preparations, a three-day Training Camp has been organized for the appointed BLOs at Town Hall from 5th July till 7th July that will prepare them for the particular task.

All the BLO’s appointed for the state will be going to the doorsteps of all the residents of the state from 8th July to 5th August to collect information for making new Voter IDs and updating the old ones.  The ECI has also stated that if no resident is found in a particular house, then the BLO will be sticking a message note with their mobile numbers on the main gates so that the owners could contact the official.

Hemant Kumar Gera, District Collector who is also the District Election Official said, “The training camp is a special effort by the government to achieve a 100% Voter’s ratio in the upcoming elections.”  He further added, “The BLOs will be asked to keep a record of the number of houses they will be going to and the person they meet.”

According to the Collector, 97% People who are eligible to Vote have their Voter’s ID in the district.

The training camp that commenced at 8 in the morning today had an attendance of the 98% BLOs appointed from the rural areas and only 40% BLOs appointed from the urban areas.

The Collector will be issuing notices to all the absentees asking for a proper reason for not attending the camp in a week.  If proper replies are not received in a week, the Control Officers will be asked to impede the particular employee’s salary.

B.R. Bati, Vice District Election Official also informed us that if no BLO officer arrives at any home in the state by the 5th of August then the resident can call and inform the irregularity at 0141-1950, a service exclusively established for the particular purpose.  The residents can also file a complaint on the website, www.ceorajasthan.nic.in.
